I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for 36 years. Despite all of your efforts to change your life you may still find yourself unhappy, discouraged, or lost. We often develop ways to distance ourselves from our emotional pain. While these strategies can undoubtedly provide temporary relief, they never address the origin of our underlying pain in any profound way. Meaningful change, in my opinion, comes from honestly addressing and healing the core issues of our lives. As we all know, honestly facing ourselves can be very difficult and takes courage and determination. Often this can be difficult to do alone.
Therapy needs to make sense to you. Truthfully all therapists are different. We will view your concerns, and the solutions for them, differently based on our education, training, and life experiences. Therefore, when you choose a therapist it is important to understand how they work, what they are going to focus on, and how they are going to help you heal.
